Subodh Public School
People live in present times they plan for and worry about the future. History, however is the study of the past, given all the demands that press in from living in the present and anticipating what is yet to come? Any subject of study needs justification. Its advocates must explain why it is worth attention and most widely accepted subjects and history is one of these.
Keeping this point in focus The City Palace Museum of Jaipur (Rajasthan) in collaboration with CBSE took the initiative and organized a three days History Festival on different themes of the subject prescribed in class 12th History curriculum in which 23 CBSE schools of Jaipur participated and exhibited different models, cultural exhibition, paintings, travalogues, civilizations, dances, drama etc.
Subodh Public School , Airport also participated in this first Jaipur History Festival with the theme “ Jaisalmer- The Land Of Valour”. Art is never created in vacuum, it is important to understand the historical, cultural and social circumstances behind the creation and creator. Jaisalmer which is located 575 kilometres west of capital Jaipur is known as The Golden City of Rajasthan. Students of class XI did detailed survey of history of Jaisalmer about two weeks before the exhibition and planned to showcase the famous architecture, markets, culture, festival, cuisine etc. All the art pieces were prepared under the guidance of coordinators and the Fine Arts teachers of the school.
The day before the festival started students along with the teacher incharges did all the arrangements to make the event as vibrant and educational as it could be. On December 14th the festival started with the prayer and seeking blessings of the deity Govind Devji .It lasted for three days in which students got the opportunity to come out of their comfort zone and express themselves in the best way . During the exhibition the students interacted with the different visitors and foreigners. They shared and explained the history of the place which they were depicting in their art. The exhibition gave a great opportunity to the students to be creative and learn history from a different and practical way.
The best part about the exhibition was that it not only helped students to gain knowledge about different phases of history but also encouraged them to think about the subject beyond imagination. Students came to know history is not limited to ‘When’,’ Where’ and ‘How’? But it also has an interesting face and can be taught and learnt in different ways.
The last day all the participants were appreciated for all their efforts and awarded with certificate of participation.
