Life-Link believes in learning by doing. By doing an Action you learn something, and you make a difference.
An Action is a small project aimed at promoting sustainable development and/or peacebuilding. An Action can be initiated by a student or a teacher, and can take a couple of hours or a couple of days or even weeks. It normally involves at least one teacher and a number of lower and/or secondary school students between the age of 13-19 years.

Planting Bulbs
On October 26th, members of the Life-Link organisation at Sigtunaskolan Humanistiska Läroverket (SSHL), in Sigtuna, Sweden gathered to plant bulbs by the entrance to our school. This was done using the help of our school’s gardener. Given that SSHL is located in close proximity to nature with large, open areas, we wanted to make use of the space available to us to increase biodiversity and make our surroundings more aesthetically pleasing.
The idea was lifted by a student at one of the student board meetings at the school. For help concerning where we could implement the action, gardening supplies, etc., the students contacted the school’s gardener. He was immensely helpful in coordinating this action together with the students. The main Life-Link board was also informed about the action, and they strongly supported the idea.
The purpose of this action was firstly, to provide for a more colourful school environment in the spring when the bulbs will bloom. This will hopefully cheer people up at a stressful time of year when exams and assessments are abundant. Secondly, the flowers will be beneficial to the ecology of the school’s environment by allowing for more pollination, which helps retain biodiversity in the area around the school. This contributes to a more sustainable and balanced environment. Therefore, this action can be said to cover all the three C’s – Care for Myself, Care for Others and Care for Nature.
