World Day of Lagoons

Khorramshahrs Students Celebrated the World Day of Lagoons.

The first Iranian festival of lagoons was hold in Sarrakhieh, a village in Shadegan, Khuzestan, Iran. Some of national and international figures gathered to celebrate this day. Among varied programs that was hold on this day, the students of Alghadir educational institute demanded more attention, protection and preservation to Kuzestan province lagoons, ponds and rivers.

The students they protested against the lack of maintenance, and in this regard they cleaned the wetlands in the coastal areas Together with their school administrates they chanted some slogans like “do not let lagoons to die because the world will die, too” and “the world survival depends on protecting, surviving and preserving ecosystem variations”. They wanted their message to be heard by other people all over the world. In this gathering Iraq, Syria, and Norway ambassadors and Gary Luis the UN representative and Ms. Masoumeh Ebtekar Iranian Head of Environmental Protection Agency participated in the festival.
